Happy 2026!

I was reminded of this poem by Ralph Waldo Emerson from his collected poems and translations that feels fitting to start the New Year.

Write it on your heart

that every day is the best day in the year.

He is rich who owns the day, and no one owns the day

who allows it to be invaded with fret and anxiety.

Finish every day and be done with it.

You have done what you could.

Some blunders and absurdities, no doubt crept in.

Forget them as soon as you can, tomorrow is a new day;

begin it well and serenely, with too high a spirit

to be cumbered with your old nonsense.

This new day is too dear,

with its hopes and invitations,

to waste a moment on the yesterdays.

We have an opportunity every day to write our own story, to create, to shift things, to be, and to grow. To show up every day with curiosity and fresh eyes and to trust that even the ordinary moments are shaping something meaningful and the days that are challenging to give ourselves grace and that tomorrow is another new day.

When we connect with this truth in our hearts, we stop waiting for life to begin. We recognize that it is already here, in this breath, this moment, this day. A new story to write. A new song to sing.

May this year be expansive and more about remembering. May you honor where you are, trust where you’re being guided, and see each day as a new beginning ready for you.
